Largest tourist site to open in Binh Duong

Click to see real sizeThe first part of a 450 ha tourist site, the largest in Vietnam, will be inaugurated in southern Binh Duong province on Sept. 11. The construction of the Dai Nam tourist site was started nearly 10 years ago by the Dai Nam joint stock company. The project is estimated to cost more than 3,000 billion VND.

French region helps preserve Hue relics

Click to see real sizeThe Hue Relics Preservation Centre is building a community-based preservation campaign with the assistance of the French northernmost region of Nord Pas de Calais. The core of the campaign will be local young people, who will be equipped with knowledge on the heritage law and Hue relics through experts’ lectures and fact-finding tours and then pass on the information to people around them.

Int’l experts gather to preserve Vietnam’s royal music

ImageLocal and international experts gathered in the former imperial city of Hue on August 29 for a workshop to discuss a national action plan to safeguard nha nhac (royal court) music of Vietnam. The two-day workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Cultural Heritage Department, UNESCO’s Hanoi office, the National Committee for UNESCO in Vietnam, the Japanese embassy, and court music artists and practitioners of Thua Thien – Hue Province.

International visitors to Vietnam in August and 8 months of year 2008

International visitors to Vietnam in August estimated 339,000 arrivals. Totally, international visitors in 8 months of year 2008 reached 3,009,153 arrivals, 6.9% higher than those in the same period of year 2007.
