Viet Nam won World Tourism Awards 2018

(TITC) – Viet Nam was honored as “Asia’s leading destination” at the 25th annual World Tourism Awards (WTA).

It was officially announced at World Tourism Awards – Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2018 held on 3 September 2018 in Hong Kong. The Vietnamese delegation led by Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism attended this red-carpet ceremony.

In addition, some Vietnamese tourism enterprises also won WTA 2018, including: Vietravel as “Asia’s leading tour operator” for the sixth consecutive year; InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort with four recognitions as “Asia's Leading Green Resort”, “Asia's Leading Luxury Resort” and “Asia's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa”, “Asia's Leading Luxury Wedding Resort”; Vietnam Airlines as “Asia's Leading Airline - Premium Economy Class”; Naman Retreat as “Asia’s Leading Retreat”.

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Awards is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. Its annual program is renowned as the most prestigious and comprehensive in the global industry.

Each year World Travel Awards covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies to recognize excellence within each continent, culminating in a Grand Final at the end of the year.

In 2018, World Travel Awards Grand Tour features regional gala ceremonies in the Middle East (Ras Al Khaimah, UAE), Europe (Athens, Greece), Asia & Australasia (Hong Kong), Latin America (Guayaquil, Ecuador), Africa & the Indian Ocean (Durban, South Africa) and North America & the Caribbean (Jamaica). Regional winners then compete head to head in the corresponding world categories. The winners will be announced on the night of the World Travel Awards’ Grand Final in Lisbon, Portugal in November 2018.
