Located some 70km north-west of HCM City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are an enduring symbol of the Viet Nam War. The 250-kilometre-long complex was built in the late 1940s and underwent intense bombardment by the Americans in the 1960s.

Today the tunnels are preserved as a war memorial and attract millions of visitors every year.

Last year the Cu Chi Tunnels were eighth out of the top 25 Asian landmarks voted for by TripAdvisor travellers.
