VNAT promotes tourism in Canada and the United States

– From 17 to 21 September 2018, Vietnamese delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Chairman of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized roadshows promoting Viet Nam tourism in Canada and the United States.

The roadshows attracted the attendance of many local tourism authorities, tourism enterprises and media from the two countries.

In the roadshows, representative of VNAT introduced and updated informations of Viet Nam’s tourism products and policies; tourism potential and hospitality system.

In 2017, Viet Nam welcomed 12,922,151 tourist arrivals, increasing 29.1% over 2016. In the first 9 months of 2018, international arrivals reached 11,616,490 arrivals, up 22.9%.

Canada and the United States have been considered important markets of Viet Nam tourism. In 2017, Viet Nam received 138,242 Canadian arrivals, up 12.5% over 2016 and 614,117 American arrivals, up 11.1%. In the first 9 months of 2018, there were 111,775 Canadian arrivals to Viet Nam (+8.9%) and 528,634 American arrivals to Viet Nam (+14.1%).

In the roadshow in Washington DC (19 September), Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States emphasized Viet Nam has become an attractive tourist destination for American tourists. With population of 100 million people with increasing income, Viet Nam has also become a potential destination for many American businesses and investors, creating favorable conditions for MICE tourism development.

The roadshows were also a good chance for Viet Nam tourism enterprises to seek cooperation opportunities with their Canadian and American partners.
