Tourism sector sees positive performance in the first 9 months of 2018

(TITC) – Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism informed about positive performance of tourism sector in the first 9 months of this year at the press conference on 16 October 2018.

Viet Nam tourism received 11.7 million int'l visitor arrivals in the first 9 months of 2018

Accordingly, in this period, Viet Nam tourism received 11.7 million international visitor arrivals, increasing 22.9% over the same period of 2017; 62.1 million domestic trippers (including 30.2 million overnight trippers); total tourism receipts recorded VND451,200 billion, up 20% over the same period last year.

The tourism sector was focusing on maintaining growth rate of domestic and international visitor arrivals; implementing Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector; popularizing Tourism Law 2017 and relevant documents; building Strategy on developing Viet Nam tourism until 2030, vision to 2050; preparing for ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2019 and tourism fair TRAVEX to be held in Ha Long, Viet Nam.

In addition, Viet Nam tourism continued to boost promotional activities in potential source markets; organize tourism fairs in the country; collaborate with partners such as VTV3, VNPT, Vntrip, etc., and strengthen linkage among provinces and regions to build dynamic tourism areas of Viet Nam.

Particularly, Viet Nam was honored as “Asia’s leading destination” at the 25th annual World Tourism Awards which was held in Hong Kong, China in September, 2018.

In 2018, the tourism sector is striving to achieve the goal of receiving about 15.7 million international arrivals and serving 80 – 82 million domestic trippers, reaching VND620,000 billion of tourism receipts.
