VNAT and iDEA signed agreement on application of advanced technology and e-commerce for tourism

(TITC)-The signing ceremony between Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Vietnam e-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (iDEA) was held on 27 September 2019 in Ha Noi

In attendance were Mr. Ha Van Sieu – Vice Chairman of VNAT; Mr. Dang Hoang Hai – Director of iDEA; representatives of functional units of VNAT and iDEA, tourism departments, enterprises and media agencies.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu pointed out the immense impact of the 4th industrial revolution to all sectors and industries, including tourism. Therefore, the application of advanced technology and e-commerce would be an urgent need.

He believed the mutual cooperation between VNAT and iDEA was an effective inter-sector cooperation model in present circumstance. The signing was a signifincant landmark to deepen the cooperation between the two sides.

Mr. Dang Hoang Hai, Director of iDEA stressed the importance of technology in daily life nowadays. Tourism could benefit by advanced technology, such as room booking, air ticket booking, payment at destinations...

Under the agreement, the two sides commit to cooperate in: Implementing the "One national card" program nationwide with application solutions and services on the basis of smart card ecosystem and e-commerce, including: Application solutions and services in the field of tourism; Application solutions and services to promote online payment in tourism; Application solutions and services in other fields related to tourism and commerce.

Developing e-commerce in the field of tourism, supporting the development of electronic trading platforms for tourism in Viet Nam.

Developing databases according to Tourism Law 2017 and Electronic Transactions Law 2005

Coordinating with enterprises to build mobile application connecting tour guides, travel companies, tourists and tourism authorities; database management applications; BI management software (Data analysis system) and Dashboard application (Management information system) for tourism and e-commerce management.

Supporting and promoting tourism businesses to use electronic voucher systems and electronic contract transactions through the electronic businesses connecting axis ERPSTORE (erpstore.vn).

Application of other advanced technologies following the 4th Industrial Revolution in the direction of public-private partnership with the principle of developing solutions and services.

At the event, Mr. Le Tuan Anh – Director of Tourism Information Technology Center (TITC) of VNAT introduced the “Vietnamese Payment Card - One National Card” incorporated with tourism utilities; the project Mobile Application connecting tourists, tour guides, travel companies and tourism authorities; the project Information Dashboard for tourism management.

The signing ceremony was held on World Tourism Day 27 September under the theme “Tourism and Job: a better future for all” responding the messages of the Secretary – General, UNWTO  Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili: “Just as new technology is changing the way we travel, so too is it changing the way we work. Tourism is leading the way in providing workers with the skills and knowledge they need for the jobs of tomorrow. Embracing this creative spirit, including through effective collaboration with partners in the technology sector and in academia, will drive the creation of more and better jobs”.

In 2018, Viet Nam received 15.5 million international arrivals, which was almost double of that figure for 2015. This reflects average growth rate of around 25% a year. Tourism contributes over 8.3% of Viet Nam’s GDP, creating more than 1 million direct jobs and nearly 2 million indirect jobs.
