Viet Nam’s excellent accommodations named in World Travel Awards 2019

World Travel Awards being considered the “Oscar of the Tourism Industry” was a prestigious premium for Viet Nam’s leading hotels and resorts, affirming their brands and reputation, as well as non-stop efforts in raising service quality.

In recent years, the rapid growth of Viet Nam tourism has been witnessed. From 2015 to 2018, the number of international visitor arrivals to Viet Nam nearly doubled from 7.9 million to 15.5 million, recording average annual growth of 25%.

Along with the development, system of tourist accommodations has strongly grown, satisfying various demand of visitors in both quantity and quality.

By 2018, Viet Nam had 28,000 tourist accommodations with over 550,000 rooms, increasing by 50% over 2015.

Especially, a strong wave of luxury accommodations could be seen, showing a positive signal of the market to fulfill demand of high-spending tourists to Viet Nam. In 2015, the number of 5-star hotels and resorts was 89 with 23,000 rooms. In 2018, the number recorded 142 with 47,000 rooms. Meanwhile, the number of 4-star establishments increased from 216 (27,000 rooms) to 272 (36,000 rooms)

Many more tourist accommodation business models went into operation: city hotels, resorts, tourist apartments, villas, homestays, tourist boats... In addition, timeshares and condotels continued to develop in such tourist hubs as Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau. Particularly, in the boom of digital economy, online booking has become very popular in the market.

The development of tourist accommodations not only met increasing demands of domestic and international visitors, but also sucessfully hosted significant events of the country and international community, popularizing friendly and active image of Viet Nam. Some major events could be named as: APEC 25 organized in Da Nang in 2017, second US – DPRK Summit in Ha Noi early this year, ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019 in Ha Long, the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 in Ha Nam...

These are evidences for the growth of Viet Nam’s tourist accommodations, meeting development requirements of tourism industry and the country in new period. The development of tourist accommodations contributes to ensuring technical infrastructure for tourism, aiming at developing tourism into a key economic sector of the country.
