Saigontourist Holding Company on Wednesday introduced the Tet (lunar new year) festival 2013, with the week-long Nguyen Hue Boulevard Floral Exhibition being the highlight of the city’s annual event.

Themed Vietnam’s Heart, the 10th flower exhibition on the main street of the city will start on February 7, or the 27th day of the 12th lunar month, and last for seven days.

Tran Hung Viet, general director of Saigontourist, said at a press briefing on Wednesday that all materials and flowers have been made ready. This year, the organizers want to highlight the bright traits of Vietnam’s key regions: the uplands, the deltas and the islands, he added.

“We will emphasize the beauty of the country’s seas and islands, so HCMC residents and tourists can have good photos of those seas and islands right in the heart of the city,” he noted.

Nguyen Hue Boulevard will be divided into many exhibition sections which have different topics. Specifically, the section from Le Loi Street to Mac Thi Buoi Street will be used to feature the mountainous and highland areas.

Features of the deltas with images about rural areas and rice fields can be seen at the section from Mac Thi Buoi Street to Ngo Duc Ke Street. Meanwhile, the seas and islands are the topic of the exhibition section from Ngo Duc Ke to Ton Duc Thang.

In addition to Nguyen Hue Boulevard Floral Exhibition, the Lunar New Year festival 2013 will feature other activities such as lighting decorations along the main streets like Nguyen Hue, Le Loi, Dong Khoi, Le Duan, Pham Ngoc Thach and Cong Truong Quoc Te square, and door shows at the facades of Saigontourist affiliates on the streets where the festival is organized.
