One of Viet Nam’s most highly acclaimed and brilliantly original cultural shows – “Vietn’Âme” (Soul of Viet Nam) –took the stage in Paris on July 4, attracting huge international audiences.

The event, co-organised by the Vietnamese culture centre in France and local authorities of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, is part of activities marking the Viet Nam Year in France.

Audiences had the opportunity to enjoy distinctive Vietnamese genres of music, including UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage examples of Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) and Gongs, as well as other instrumental pieces of bau (monochord), and tranh (16-string zither).

A joint choir performance by French and Vietnamese choirs Homeland Chorus and Choisy-Le-Roi highlighted the event, symbolising the unique friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.

Le Hong Chuong, Director of the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in France, said that the event aimed to introduce the image of Viet Nam's land and people to French and international friends.

He also stressed that the centre will further promote cultural exchange activities to serve the Overseas Vietnamese community.

An encore performance is set for the Carnival festival in Paris on July 5./.
