Tourism promotes forest protection in Ba Be National Park

Ba Be National Park in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan used to be a hotspot of large-scale deforestation. However, in recent years forest protection work in the area has seen positive changes. In particular, tourism development has contributed to this success.

Lake Ba Be in the northern province of Bac Kan is Viet Nam’s largest and one of the 100 largest fresh water lakes in the world. The stunning lake and distinctive culture of local ethnic people living nearby have made the lake neigbourhood an attraction to visitors.
Mother Nature has provided the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan many beautiful landscapes such as Ba Be Lake, Hua Ma and Nang Tien Cave, among others. The province has great potential to develop tourism. However incomprehensive growth has hindered the sector fully tapping its potential.
A ceremony was held at Ba Be Lake in the mountainous northern province of Bac Kan on November 18, to open the ninth tourism programme entitled ‘Through Viet Bac Heritage Sites’ and Ba Be – Bac Kan tourism week.
Situated in Bac Kan Province, about 230km from Ha Noi, Ba Be Lake is known as a tourism complex where tourists can enjoy the pristine beauty of mountains and natural caves. Visiting Ba Be Lake, visitors can now experience the land with homestay services.
Ba Be National Park in Bac Kan Province covers 5 communes in Ba Be District. The park, a beautiful ecological site with magnificent landscape and rich biodiversity, is attracting tourists.
The northern province of Bac Kan aims to develop Ba Be into a national tourist site and make tourism a key sector, thereby boosting the locality’s socio-economic development.
Located in Na Slai Hamlet, Hoang Tri Commune, Ba Be District (Bac Kan Province), about 200km from Ha Noi, the newly-found cave named Tham Phay is considered “Son Doong Cave” in the North.
A previously unknown cave called Tham Phong has been discovered by a travel agency in the northern province of Bac Kan’s Ba Be District.  
An area covering three northern provinces – Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Bac Kan – has been designated for the conservation of cultural and historical values and revolutionary war-zone relics, as well as the development of an agroforestry economy.
Located in Nam Mau Commune, Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province, about 230km from Ha Noi, Ba Be Lake (Three-section lake) is one of the few spectacular natural fresh-water lakes in the world.
