Ho Chi Minh City welcomes over 6.2 million foreign tourists in nine months

Ho Chi Minh City greeted more than 6.2 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of 2019, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.3 percent, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 742,100 foreign tourists in March, up 10 percent against March 2018, the municipal Tourism Department announced on April 1.
The capital city of Ha Noi is taking the initiative to maintain its top position in Viet Nam in attracting foreign tourists, with all indexes related to tourism rising compared with last year’s corresponding figure.
The capital city of Ha Noi is striving to welcome 5.5 million foreigners among over 25.4 million tourists in 2018, confirming itself as an attractive destination in the region and the world.  
The number of foreign arrivals to Ha Noi in March hit 256,000, bringing the total number of foreign tourists to the city in the first quarter to 761,000, up 17.1% and 28.7% respectively over the same periods last year, according to the Ha Noi Statistics Office (HSO).
Hundreds of foreign tourists arrived in Viet Nam on the first day of the New Year 2016, promising a busy season for the tourism industry in the year.
From next August, foreign tourists will be allowed to take their caravans to Viet Nam, according to the Government’s new regulation governing foreign-registered vehicles in the country.
Ha Noi welcomed 270,000 domestic tourists and 70,083 foreign tourists during the nine-day lunar New Year holiday (February 15-23), up 8 percent from the same period last year. 
According to the report of the Department of Culure, Sports and Tourism, Khanh Hoa Province welcomed 388,000 tourists in July, including 57,800 foreigners and 330,200 locals. Room occupation rate was 85% during the month.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched its marketing campaigns to Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Russia, while at the same time boosting the growth of the domestic tourism market, the Viet Nam Economic News reported.
Cambodia attracted 4.2 million foreign tourists last year, an increase of 17.5% over the previous year, according to government statistics released Friday.
