The 4th Meeting of CLMV Tourism Ministers 2017

– In the framework of ITE – HCMC 2017, on 7 September, the 4th Meeting of Cambodia - Laos - Myanmar- Viet Nam (CLMV) Tourism Ministers took place in Ho Chi Minh City under the chair of Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien.

Tourism has been considered as an important field in CLMV cooperation. Since the first meeting held in Viet Nam in 2012, the member states had made efforts to boost tourism development, promote common brand “Four Countries – One Destination”, implement tourism cooperation plans of the four countries for 2013-2015 and 2016-2018 periods.

The cooperation of CLMV has brought important achievements regarding promoting destination image of the four countries, connecting four countries' tourist destinations, creating linking routes to the member countries in the region, etc.

Impressive rise in the number of international visitors to the four countries can be seen in the past years. Particularly, in 2016, CLMV received 22.16 million international arrivals, of that there were 2.8 million from the four countries, accounting for 12.6%.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien hoped the member countries continue to focus on implementing promotion activities, tourism products development, enhancing the participation of private sectors and local communities, travelling facilitation and tourism human resource development.

At the meeting, the senior delegates agreed on the joint declaration of the 4th Meeting of CLMV Tourism Ministers in 2017.
