Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Hung: Enhancing role of state management in tourism in new circumstance

- This was the direction of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung in a meeting with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to implement the work plan for 2021.

In the context of Covid-19 pandemic, the Deputy Minister required that the state management of tourism needs to be enhanced to foster the recovery and development of tourism industry in the future.

According to the report of the VNAT, 2021 is forecasted to be a difficult year for the tourism industry. The complicated and unpredictable development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world will continue to be a barrier to the resumption of international tourism.

10 groups of key tasks of VNAT in 2021 include: implementing the Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW dated 16 January 2017 on developing tourism into a key economic sector; promoting the launch of Tourism Development Fund; continuing to renew awareness about tourism development; building tourism policies; developing human resource of tourism; developing and diversifying tourist markets; developing tourism products; enhancing tourism promotion and branding; pushing digital transformation in the tourism industry and smart tourism; strengthening state management of tourism.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister asked VNAT to prepare for the organization of national conference on tourism planning; propose the Ministry's leaders a schedule to work with localities on tourism development. VNAT should closely coordinate with Ninh Binh Province and related localities in organization of the Visit Vietnam Year 2021 and coordinate with Vietnam Sports Administration to develop a plan to promote tourism on the occasion of Viet Nam hosting the SEA GAMES by the end of 2021.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized the necessity of promoting coordination with the two leading tourist hubs of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to accelerate the implementation of cooperation agreements between these two cities and other localities in Viet Nam.
