VNAT and TikTok meet up for the tourism promotion media cooperation plan

- On 11th May, in Ha Noi, Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), had a meeting with Ms. Teresa Tan - Head of Public Policy Southeast Asia and Singapore, TikTok and the delegation on the implementation of the communication cooperation plan to promote and stimulate development of Vietnam tourism in the coming time.

Established in 2017, TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short videos for young people, until now there are about 3 billion downloads worldwide. This is considered as an effective tool for mobile marketing with a large community and the ability to attract users to participate in trends, thanks to the advantage of a short, easy-to-make video model, the participation of celebrities, and interactive ability…

After the trial period, TikTok was officially launched in the Vietnam market on 24th April 2019. At the same year, Vietnam Tourism Review (under  VNAT) and TikTok signed a Memorandum of Understanding on  Cooperation in promoting Vietnam tourism, launching a campaign to promote Vietnam tourism with video tools, the #HelloVietnam campaign.

Despite being affected by COVID-19, over the past 2 years, the parties have carried out 04 media campaigns for localities: #HelloVietnam, #HelloDanang, #HelloNinhbinh and the latest is #HelloQuangNam; implementing the campaign #ancungtiktok, promoting Vietnamese cuisine.

Recently in Vietnam, TikTok has launched a new product that is an e-commerce solution for entertainment and shopping (TikTok Shop). TikTok Shop is an innovative solution for both buyers, sellers and content creation, bringing a comprehensive and seamless e-commerce ecosystem right on TikTok. Through this new platform, TikTok will open up many business opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium-sized businesses that are gradually recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and provide a great shopping experience for users and develop opportunities for content creators.

Regarding cooperation in communication, promotion and stimulation of tourism development in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - Representative of TikTok Vietnam proposed continuing to implement the #HelloVietnam campaign to encourage users to create short content about scenery, culture, cuisine and Vietnamese lifestyle and sharing on TikTok platform. Enhance the digital capabilities of tourism organisations and businesses by organising specialised training courses on the TikTok for Business creative advertising and the TikTok Shop e-commerce solutions.

At the meeting, leaders of departments, units under VNAT said that TikTok is a highly interactive social platform that attracts a large number of young people. Therefore, promoting tourism on the TikTok platform will be one of the solutions to uphold promotion tourism in Vietnam.

Regarding the digital transformation, Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Deputy Executive Director of Tourism Information Technology Center (under VNAT) stated, VNAT has also coordinated to promote communication and promotion activities on different digital platforms, bringing many practical effects and receiving high praise from the social community. Mr. Hoa hoped that TikTok would strengthen training support, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, increase interactivity on the digital platform, and attract more attention from the community.

Highly appreciating TikTok’s achievements and superiority in trade promotion and stimulation activities, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Le Phuc indicated that the cooperation with TikTok will support Vietnam's tourism industry in communicating, promoting and upholding e-commerce and digital transformation.

Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc agreed to continue implementing the cooperation programme with TikTok and the collaborative content that TikTok presented. On the side of VNAT, Vice Chairman Nguyen Le Phuc assigned Vietnam Tourism Review as the focal point to continue implementing cooperation with TikTok.
