Mr. Truong Nam Thang and Mr. Kai Partale from the ESRT contributed with a presentation on “Raising awareness on Socio-Economic and Environmental Responsibilities in Tourism Development”.

Firstly, the Workshop started with a general overview on Responsible Tourism in order to present the bigger picture. A wide range of Responsible Tourism aspects have been covered such as, how to promote Responsible Tourism in Vietnam. Additionally, the current State of Responsible tourism in Vietnam has been introduced with its opportunities on Responsible tourism application in Vietnam and a model for responsible tourism development. Guidelines for responsible tourism development in Vietnam were presented.

In addition to enhancing awareness about negative impacts of poorly planned and managed tourism amongst stakeholders, Raising awareness on economic and social responsibilities in tourism development as well as their benefits and practices have been on the agenda. The Workshop has been completed with discussion sessions on Responsible Tourism.
