With the support of an International Tourism Planning Expert, workshops have been implemented in November 2012 to provide support for regional and provincial tourism planning preparation to ITDR.

These workshops and the following question and answer sessions covered various approaches and methodologies in Tourism Planning and Environmental Assessments. The section about Tourism Planning gave an in-debt insight into more process-oriented approach to tourism planning, looking at destination management mechanisms and tools. Discussions on this topic continued to explore market-oriented approaches to tourism planning, market positioning and branding, community-based tourism, and also detailed control and design aspects at the site-specific level.

The session on Environmental Assessment reviewed diverse forms of environmental assessment including Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Management Plans and Carrying Capacity Assessments with special regard to tourism destination.
