Held
over a full day on 14th November 2013 with the theme “Conference on Responsible
Tourism Policy”, the conference will bring together some 200 delegates from
across the Vietnam tourism industry private, public and NGO sectors to discuss
the challenges of balancing the emergence of mass tourism in Vietnam while
minimising its potential negative impacts and enhancing its positive impacts on
the local social, environmental and economic situation.
The
conference will help to encourage Government of Vietnam and tourism stakeholder
to develop and implement the Framework for a Responsible Tourism Policy, which
will help create a competitive advantage necessary for Vietnam’s tourism sector
to mature and flourish and continue to contribute to broad-based socio-economic
development well into the future.
Introductory
presentations by experienced practitioners followed by moderated question &
answer sessions will address these topics and give an updated picture of the
pathway for a responsible tourism policy. Delegates will work together to
develop a number of key responsible tourism issues for the policy development
by conference-end.
Whereas
in the conference sessions the responsible tourism topics are discussed on a
more theoretical level, practical examples will be also presented to provide
tangible responsible tourism experiences at the exhibition and during the
Technical Visit on 15th November in Hoi An.
