Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, VTCB Chairman and Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, VTCB members and representatives from the Project Management Unit (PIU) of the ESRT Programme.
From December 2012 to December 2013, international technical experts have developed new VTOS Front Office Standards with a new format/structure. A national team of independent experts mobilized by the ESRT Programme have reviewed and provided recommendations for revisions by the international experts.
After evaluating the VTOS Front Office Standards- Version 2014, VTCB commented that the set of VTOS standards are consistent and complete and comprehensively covering all five levels. It is also suitable for business operations as well as suitable for the tourism training providers in developing curricula, lectures and in assessing and evaluating students.
The PIU of the ESRT Programme proposed that the implementing authorities should promulgate VTOS Front Office – Version 2014 as soon as possible with clear legal regulations and guidelines to be used by tourism stakeholders.
VTCB will research and integrate VTOS Front Office – Version 2014 into the existing assessment system and provide specific guidance for tourism businesses and tourism training providers on how to implement training for their staff/trainees as well as assessment registration procedures for VTCB’s certification.
Mr. Vu Quoc Tri, ESRT’s Programme Director, confirmed that the ESRT Programme will continue to support VTCB in technical aspects. As planned, 10 new VTOS standards shall be completed by April 2014 and begin the pilot phase of training and assessment.
