Approval Of VTOS – Front Office (Version 2013)

On January 13, 2014, Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Van Tuan signed to approve Vietnam Tourism Occupational Standards (VTOS) – Front Office (version 2013).

Based on the assessment conclusion of the Vietnam Tourism Certification Board (VTCB), VNAT approved VTOS Front Office (version 2013) which was developed by the ESRT Programme. The VTOS Front Office (version 2013) shall be used in vocational training courses in accordance with the framework of the ESRT Programme’s work plan.

VNAT tasked the ESRT Programme to work with tourism vocational training schools as well as enterprises in order to introduce, disseminate and apply new VTOS in vocational training. This activity is aimed at improving capacity of sector's workforce in line with the principles of responsible tourism.

The ESRT Programme is developing other VTOS standards for nine occupations as follows:

1. Tourist Boat Service

2. Small Accommodation Operations

3. Tour Guiding

4. On-site Guiding

5. Food & Beverage Service

6. Housekeeping

7. Travel and Tour operations

8. Food Preparation

9. Hotel Management

These remaining VTOS standards will be submitted to VTCB and then approved by VNAT.
