Capacity Building for Vietnamese Tourism Administrators in Malaysia

On 30th August, 2014, 20 tourism administrators of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism gathered for a briefing meeting before departing to Malaysia for an one-month training course, which is tailor-made as part of the ESRT Programme.

Following the success of the training course in 2013, the course in 2014 is aimed at Management Capacity Building for Provincial tourism administrators across the nation, serving the long-term objective of developing human resources of the tourism industry. The course is planned to take place from 31st August to 29th September, 2014 at Taylor's University, Malaysia.

The content of the course will focus on responsible tourism management, including four topics: Responsible/Sustainable Tourism (Environmental Protection/Cultural Heritage), Sustainable Regional/Spatial Planning in Tourism, Tourism Service and Quality Management and Product Development and Event Management in Tourism. Participants will have an opportunity to access and interact in a world-class educational environment as well as experience current and future trends in the tourism sector within the ASEAN region.


20 Provincial administrators participating training course were carefully selected in compliance with strict procedures and requirements which included working experience, age, diploma and certifications and the proficiency of foreign language - English.



As scheduled, the opening ceremony will be held on 4th September 2014 in Malaysia and will be attended by Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Vietnam to Malaysia,  Mr. Marcel Roijen, and the Chargé d’Affaires, European Union to Malaysia. Moreover, Ms. Hoang Thi Diep, Vice Chairwoman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will also attend the opening ceremony.
