Attending the workshop were 40 participants including representatives of VNAT’s leaders, representatives of VNAT’s functional departments and Office, representatives of functional departments of Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism (MCST), officials from Institute of Tourism Development and Research and Tourist Information and Technology Centre.
The workshop aimed at reporting and sharing experience on visitor survey in tourism destinations, and support capacity building on surveying, statistics collecting, analyzing and processing for tourism administrators of VNAT and MCST.
Previously, a group of international and domestic experts of the ESRT Programme conducted two surveys with international tourists speaking English as well as domestic tourists in two phases (March – April and July - August 2014) in five pilot destinations (Sapa, Ha Long, Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An); analysed data and finalised the technical report.
Capacity improved in conducting tourism statistics will help acquiring comprehensive and authentic information on Vietnam’s tourism industry, thereby establishing the right direction for sustainable tourism development, strengthening tourism brand and improving quality of tourism products and services.
