Workshop to increase the effectiveness of tourism promotion in Western European market

A workshop to increase the effectiveness of tourism promotion in the Western European market was held within the framework of International Travel Expo (ITE-2015) on 9 Sep 2015 in Hochiminh city by the Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme in collaboration with Vietnam Tourism Association.

Attending at the workshop, ESRT Programme’s Sector Development Expert, Kai Partale, made presentation on enhancement of Vietnam tourism promotion activities in Western European countries. The presentation highlighted methodology and necessary actions to attract European tourists to Viet Nam in a sustainable way.

First of all, in order to promote Viet Nam tourism in Western European market effectively, it is necessary to have a specific research about the European tourists market. All activities ranging from retrieving and collecting data, managing and developing tourist profiles to promoting, attracting tourists via press channels are closely connected and consistent.

Besides, the publicity should be implemented effectively and responsibly. The existing products must be enhanced to stimulate customers. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen Vietnam tourism brand with consistent messages. It is also believed that the role of representative for Vietnam tourism in the Western Europe market needs to be improved in the coming time.

Finally, Kai Partale proposed an ideal marketing approach for tourism promotion in this market. Such an approach is attributed to a series of activities including development of advertisement campaign and PR events in source markets, organization of trade marts and press conferences, organization of promotional events, utilization of social media, organization of FAM trips for the media and tourism businesses, organization of trade workshop in target markets and creation of opportunities for business partnership.
