Introducing the ILO Toolkit

By consent from the International Labour Organisation, the ESRT Programme has translated and published the Toolkit on “Poverty reduction through tourism”. The toolkit is part of the ILO’s wider effort to promote decent work in the tourism industry and aims to contribute to poverty reduction through tourism and the promotion of employment in rural areas.

Implementing MRA for Tourism Professionals

In 2015 the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) will be launched, aiming to bring a greater integration between ASEAN Member States (AMS). One important criterion for economic communities is the mobility of a skilled labour force, as professionals from various disciplines are able to relocate and work in other AMS. The basis of labour mobility is the mutual recognition of qualifications between ASEAN countries.

Profitable Tourism through Information Quality and Community Partnership

What speaks several languages and always has the scoop on what’s happening in Central Vietnam? The answer is Hoi An’s new Tourist Information Centre. The site operated for several years purely selling tickets to Hoi An’s many heritage attractions and will re-open in April 2013 as an information center with an innovative facelift which includes creative installations by local craft artisans, Wi-Fi access and a chill out area.

Capacity Development on Regional Planning & Strategic Environment Analysis

One of the ESRT’s objectives is to strengthen the capacity of the Institute of Tourism Development and Research (ITDR) with a specific objective to enhance the Institute’s regional tourism development planning and research capability while applying the principles of responsible tourism.
